Are you concerned that your dog might pull you around when you’re near sheep?
– The skill to ignore grazing sheep, allowing you to walk past them without a fuss.
– Techniques to improve impulse control using the power of play.
– Strategies for redirecting your dog’s prey drive toward you instead of the environment.
– An understanding of livestock welfare and your dog’s needs, ensuring their happiness even without herding sheep all day.
And here’s the best part – we’ll be practicing with real sheep! A friendly flock will assist us in applying these training techniques.
This is the start of your training journey, additional days to practise with the presence of sheep will be provided to allow you and your dog to practise in safe way but exposed to the real life event!
Only a small group of dogs so plenty of time to practise! Hot drinks and cakes will be provided.
* Dogs will be assessed and worked with individually. When not working, they must rest in the car.*
** Please Note: This workshop is not designed for dogs that have already chased or bitten livestock. While we welcome you and your dog to help you prevent such incidents in the future, your dog will not be off-leash around sheep during this training day. It’s all about safety, understanding the well-being of both dogs and livestock, and giving you the opportunity to train around sheep that won’t vanish at the sight of your dog. **
Location: The venue is in Over Wyresdale (Lancashire), exact location and details will be sent via email after the booking.
